Summer Internship, EIEM (Liepa Henrieta)
Summer Internship at Fingerhaus
I am Liepa Henrieta and I had the coolest summer opportunity to go to practice architecture in Germany. I worked for two months at the prefabricated wooden construction company Fingerhaus.
Only after arriving at the company, I was greeted by kind future colleagues who gave me a lot of experience.
At the very beginning of the practice, during the first two weeks I got to know the company, my colleagues showed me the production workshop, the nearby fully equipped model houses, and also showed me the offices. For two days, I had the opportunity to observe an individual conversation between an employee and customers, during which we walked through corridors with various displays of home equipment (bathroom equipment, facade decoration, floor coverings, and so on). On the second day of the meeting with the clients, I asked how the plan of the house was coordinated and the installation of electrical sockets.
During the second part of my internship, I worked in an architect’s office, where I learned to work with the „Vplan“ 3D modeling program, I thought about various residential house designs, my colleague and I went to the construction site and communicated with clients. For me, this internship was the best opportunity to experience first-hand how to communicate solidly and professionally with clients, I learned how many people are needed for such a large company to thrive and maintain its good name. I would really like as many students as possible to find this or a similar company for practice.
